Lemkin is the man who is considered to have invented the term "genocide" in America after World War Two. He originally was very popular when he restricted his discussion of genocide to the crimes committed by Nazi Germany in World War Two. Unfortunately for America, he had a larger and more realistic vision of the subject of genocide. He began to point out that genocide had existed throughout world history and that America had sometimes played a key role in genocide against other peoples. When he started talking about this, his support in America largely evaporated and he died in poverty. However his studies are relevant, and we present here his list of what he thought were the greatest genocides in history.
Below is his list of genocides from the following book, "Lemkin on Genocide."
